The Young Hot Ebony in Porn is Just Wrong

The Young Hot Ebony in Porn is Just Wrong

Yes, porn is appealing.

Along with the colorful performances, the titles of the films can get pretty colorful, too. We all have our favorite categories, our favorite performers, our favorite sites. It’s wonderfully disgusting, beautifully grotesque, deliciously gross and taboo.

All factors that contribute to why we love it so much, right?

When I say colorful titles, I mean almost disturbingly so. As a Black woman, naturally, I identify with Black women in the adult film industry. In porn, Ebony is a category in which the female performers are Black. The Ebony tab has some of the most crazy titles I’ve ever seen:

Ghetto Black Teen, Apple Booty Ghetto Hoe Sucking, Afro Phat Booty Black Hoe Fucked.

But I still watch. Millions of viewers enjoy this tab everyday, regardless of anything blatantly stereotypical. This makes me think:

Is the industry so successful because it mirrors already existing stereotypes? Or . . . does it help create them?

Before you say, “It’s just porn,” think about how long you’ve been watching it, how your ideas of what sex should be like were influenced by it, and how you’ve probably been a bit desensitized to certain matters when it comes to sex.

These representations of Black women are dangerous because they perpetrate the same myths that were being spread during slavery and are given mainstream validation when directors such as Gregory Dark go on to direct pop videos for artists.
